The Opportunity
We are looking for a Specialist Chemist to support a busy quality control laboratory by providing analytical and practical support for equipment and systems. A proven laboratory professional who will work within the exiting Laboratory but capable of developing and refining new concepts for sustainability.

What the role entails
This role is a great opportunity for a highly motivated individual. Working Day Work, Monday - Friday and reporting to the Superintendent - Laboratory, you will be:
Monitoring performance of analytical equipment and systems to detect deviation or deterioration.
Conducting analysis and troubleshooting of issues and providing recommendations solutions for rectification.
Planning and conducting of preventative maintenance and rectification work to bring equipment and systems back to full capability.
Scheduling work on multiple tasks to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
Coordinating with Operations and Technical teams.
Extracting and manipulating data for various reporting functions.
Recommending changes in procedures or process.
Interacting regularly with internal and external customers and vendors to ensure technical and quality requirements are met.
Ensuring sound chemistry principles are applied.
Developing material and facilitating training sessions to peers and colleagues.
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience in an industrial or quality control laboratory.
Experience and knowledge in supporting laboratory instruments and systems, with some mastery of a critical technique such as Spectroscopy, Information Systems (LIMS), Chromatography, particle size measurement.
Strong data Interpretation and reporting skills – particularly extracting data from data sets and applying statistical methodologies to support decision making.
Ability to negotiate with internal customers and external vendors.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
A manual C class driver’s license.
Experience using any of the following – Instrument based particle sizers (laser diffraction, Accusizer, camsizer), Rheometers, Viscometers, Titrators, Ion Chromatography, ICP-OES, XRF.
Prior experience in a leadership or program co-ordination role.
