Job Description
Role Overview:

As a Director, Solution Development, you will be responsible for the leadership, planning, project coordination and management of assigned areas. This position ensures efficient operations in order to meet current and future business needs that enable Avanade to sustain and grow our position as the leading global systems integrator on the Microsoft platform. You will ensure that solution efforts are appropriately prioritized, that solutions are integrated, and that the company has defined the right solution cross-selling messages for the regions, while facilitating efficient operations to meet current and future business needs. Additionally, you will be responsible for optimizing team and individual contributions to achieve stated objectives. Overall, you will also have some responsibility in support sales efforts, and may serve as a Career Manager.

Key Role Responsibilities:

Day-to-day, you will:

Review efforts and outputs from, and may provide strategic direction to, groups across workstreams in all phases of Avanade projects (Plan, Analyze, Design, Build and Test)
Ensure group is capable of performing present and future needs through development and talent acquisition strategies
Provide strategic guidance on requirements gather and subsequent solution design efforts
Act as trusted advisor to client organizations, resolving conflict and identifying future business prospects
Take ultimate ownership of team(s) project management capabilities and performance
Set goals and is responsible for meeting key strategic objectives as defined by the business
Establish beneficial working relationships outside of one's own capability within Avanade
Take very active role in sales and pre-sales efforts

Key Role Skill & Capability Requirements:

Technical Requirements

Advanced skills in analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and maintaining application code in a variety of contexts
Leadership experience in overseeing and developing client-based and/or web-based software solutions
Demonstrated experience about application development, complex code development, application testing, component design
Demonstrated experience of specific technologies as specified by hiring manager
Non-Technical Requirements

Experience leading complex consulting engagements with large organizations
Experience working with large, distributed global teams
Extensive experience leading and leveraging offshore teams
Experience making use of service brokering in project work
Expertise in communicating and presenting complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders, both verbally and in written form Strong commercial awareness and financial intelligence (e.g., P&Ls, how decisions impact cost, profit, etc.)
Solid written and spoken communication skills

Preferred Certifications:

Desired certifications to be determined by hiring manager in partnership with Market Unit/Talent Community

Preferred Education Background:

You will likely possess an advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or related field

Preferred Years of Work Experience:

You will likely have 6+ years of increasingly diverse or complex experience

Preferred Years of Management Experience:

3+ years of management experience

Nature of Work: Directs collective work efforts to accomplish strategic goals for given portfolio of projects, programs, and/or clients.
Scope of Work: Translates high-level strategy into more localized strategy and operational objectives.
Complexity: Highly complex problems, often requiring analysis of near-intangible factors, creative solutioning and significant networking to succeed.
Discretion: Authority to establish standards and shift overall direction of projects and programs in response to functional strategy
Organizational Impact: Work efforts are typically strategic in nature, and may have a lasting, long-term impact on Avanade and/or client operations and strategic direction. If client-facing, should drive client-relationship and sales outcomes.
Supervision Received: Operates with extreme latitude in determining focus and approach to work objectives.
Knowledge Applied: Applies expert knowledge of a learned occupation / discipline and demonstrable, broad knowledge of business operations and organizational strategy.
