The Opportunity

We are looking for a Graduate Heritage Advisor to play an integral role in supporting the Cultural Heritage team of Rio Tinto Iron Ore in the full spectrum of cultural heritage management activities.

What the role entails

This role is a great opportunity to work in various areas such as project management, logistics, archaeological and ethnographic surveys and developing relationships with Aboriginal people and other stakeholders. The position will be based in Dampier with the West Pilbara Heritage team, reporting into Superintendent Cultural Heritage, you will be:

Experienced working in remote areas and with Aboriginal People will be an advantage, as will GIS and GPS skills. You will be expected to spend a large amount of time on surveys in the Pilbara region so you must be comfortable with frequent time away from home.

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have:

Honours degree in Archaeology or Anthropology or any related discipline.

Manual driver’s licence and 4WD/off-road experience will also be favourable (but not essential).

Fieldwork experience

Flexibility to travel up to 12 days in duration for fieldwork on a frequent basis

It will also be beneficial if you have:

Willingness to learn

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Good knowledge of MS Office

Critical thinking and problem solving skills

Ability to multi-task.
